I really enjoyed this movie! the jazzy soundtrack during the after the fights was incredibly engaging and otherworldy, as a huge jazz nerd i was very happy to see that. I loved the late 80's and early 90's music throught the film too. B Safdie does a great job without his brother and honestly I liked his movie from 2025 than his bro Josh's "Marty Supreme" Id personally pick Smashing Machine as my Oscar pick but it wasnt nominated for best picture, how sad hh. check this out if u like cool movies and beautiful color grading. OH ALSO Dwyane Johnson was INcredible in this!!! I didnt know he could be a real human!!!
One Battle After Another, what the heck can I say about One Battle After Another. a lot, thats what. This film was such a fun time! Im a big stupid leftist myself and honestly I loved the resistance stuff. Freeing people from the immigrant camps at the beginning was awesome! The premise had me super hooked throughout the film untill the last third, where it kinda died down a bit and it felt like it went on longer that it needed. I guess im glad they didnt end it in a very "by the books" kinda way.
This film just grabs you by the ankles and throws you around for two hours. If you're upset about the Safdie bros breaking up to do their own projects and need something to fill a anxiety filled hole than look no further! "If I Had Legs I'd Kick You puts you in the passenger seat of the life of a mom who struggles to juggle her daughters mysterious illness that requires her to be fed by a tube at night, her job as a therapist where her clients are both mirror her own issues and also dont nearly have it as hard as her, and her own therapist who shares the same office as her and just doesnt like her for some reason, all while trying to get her apartment fixed after a giant hole opens up in the ceiling completely flooding it and leaving her and her kid to live in a motel. Every second of this film is claustrophobic with people constantly bombarding our main character Linda with problems and threats and whatever else. The camera is also so tightly framed on Linda the entire movie that it feels like youre too uncomfortably close to her. This movie rocked my dang socks off, I really dont wanna see anything else like it for awhile, not because its bad, but because its just too much dude.
